Clearing at Glamorgan

Although the clearing period is coming to an end, Glamorgan still has a few places left on selected courses.

We know you are thinking very carefully about your options now – whether to take a gap year, find a job or still try to get a place at university. Your friends may have started sharing their plans for their farewell parties, or your parents keep asking what are you going to do next? Don’t panic if you haven’t finalised your plans yet – there are still thousands of students in the UK who haven’t chosen their university yet and it’s perfectly reasonable you’ve taken this time to think about it – it’s a big decision.

Here at Glamorgan, we have some places available for suitably qualified students on selected courses starting this September. Our degrees are recognised by our students as being of a high quality. This week we got our National Student Survey results through: we were top in Wales for Marketing, Law, Criminology, Forensic Science, Tourism and Travel and Social Work. We also have over 90% satisfaction in History, Mathematics and English. And the best thing is, we still have a few remaining places on some of those courses.

If you are in two minds about whether to go to University this year, here are the reasons why you should take the opportunity now.

  • The competition for places will be much tougher next year – this is due to a reduction in the number of places available combined with increased competition. There will be many people who didn’t get a place this year who will take a gap year, retake exams and be in the market next year with better qualifications.
  • People taking A-levels now are likely to have seen what happened this year and will do their best to achieve the best grades possible. Expect to see even more A* grades next year.
  • Cost – the way students pay for their education is under review. The longer you leave going to university, the more you’re going to pay.
  • The job market isn’t great at the moment so you may struggle to find that first rung on the career ladder, or to get some work experience in your future area of study.

Call one of our admissions advisors now to discuss your options.

Our experts will be on hand to help you start your university career and find a place on a course you’ll love.

Glamorgan is a great place to come – especially right now. The University is in the middle of a £130m investment programme which means that new students will benefit from state-of-the-art equipment and new social facilities. The brand new Students’ Union will be open in time to welcome new students who start with us this September.

The University is based in Cardiff and Treforest (less than 30 minutes from Cardiff). The Virgin Alternative Guide says that Cardiff is a place “jam-packed per square yard with some of the best drinking, dancing, and shopping outside London”.

All of our courses are designed with employability in mind, and are developed in conjunction with businesses so Glamorgan graduates get the skills that are in demand by employers.

Choose Glamorgan and you’ll get a first class education. Our lecturers don’t just teach – they also practise their various areas of expertise. Depending on what subject you choose to study, you could be taught by renowned writers, film-makers, scientists or engineers. For example, our team of creative writing lecturers are all published, prize-winning authors and poets – Professor Phillip Gross is a winner of the internationally renowned TS Eliot poetry prize.
