What is Clearing?

Clearing is a service that can help people without a University place to find a suitable vacancy on a higher education course.

You are eligible to apply through Clearing if you are not currently holding an offer to study at University. This could be because:

  • You did not meet the conditions of your original offer
  • You have been unsuccessful in your application to other institutions
  • You have declined all of your other offers
  • You have only just decided to apply to University

How do you apply for a place through Clearing at Glamorgan?

Here at Glamorgan, we have some places available for suitably qualified applicants on selected courses starting this September.

Your first step is to decide on the course that you’re interested in applying for. You can search for a specific course or browse subject areas on our Clearing courses page. Our subject pages include lots of useful information to help you make a decision, including quick facts and videos.

To apply for a course, please call our dedicated clearing advisors on the above number.

Why should you come to Glamorgan to study?

The University of Glamorgan was rated the best new university in Wales this year in the Guardian’s prestigious league table. Furthermore, all of our courses are designed with employability in mind, and are developed in conjunction with businesses so Glamorgan graduates get the skills that are in demand by employers.

Glamorgan is a great place to be – especially right now. The University has invested £130m in facilities that will enhance your entire student experience.

The University is based in Cardiff and Treforest (less than 30 minutes from Cardiff). The Virgin Alternative Guide says that Cardiff is a place “jam-packed per square yard with some of the best drinking, dancing, and shopping outside London”.

Why should you go to university this year?

There are many reasons why you should come to university this year:

  • Cost – as you may be aware, the cost of going to University is set to increase from next year. This year is the last year that you’ll be able to study at the current level of tuition fees. The longer you leave going to university, the more you’re going to pay.
  • Competition for university places seems to get more intense every year
  • The state of the economy means that you may struggle to find that first rung on the career ladder, or to get some work experience in your future area of study.
